The Kathmandu District Court has issued a temporary order to stop the screening of the movie Aktor: Take One. Both parties involved have been asked to appear for a discussion on February 4.

Yagya Mani Neupane, the lawyer for the petitioner, Nepal Diaspora Entertainment Pvt Ltd, told Onlinekhabar about the court’s order. The court’s website also confirmed the temporary order and the summons for the respondents.

The order was issued on Tuesday by Judge Dhakaram Paudel. The court said, “Since the petitioner’s movie Aktor is already being shown and the respondent’s movie is about to be released, a temporary order has been made to stop the screening of Aktor: Take One until further discussions to ensure fairness.”

The Film Development Board has also been named as a respondent in this order, and the respondents must be informed about it.

The producers of Aktor had filed a case in court on Friday, asking for the screening of Aktor: Take One to be stopped. Directed by Rajan Bhusal, Aktor: Take One was scheduled to be released on Wednesday.

There has been a dispute between the two films over the title for some time. The case asks for compensation and legal action under copyright laws.

The writ names the Film Development Board, Adrut Films, and Moti Films as respondents. It accuses them of using the same title and storyline without permission, violating legal rules, and making the title look original even though it’s identical.

The writ also asks for a complete ban on the screening of Aktor: Take One in cinemas, on digital platforms, or on TV until further notice.
