John Abraham’s latest political thriller, The Diplomat, continued to perform steadily at the box office on its fifth day. According to Sacnilk, the film saw a sharp 67.47% drop in earnings on Monday, with the decline continuing on Tuesday. Still, after five days, the film has collected Rs 16.2 crore in India.

Interestingly, while John’s earlier film Vedaa had a better fifth-day collection, The Diplomat has already surpassed Vedaa’s total five-day earnings of Rs 15.5 crore.

Global Collection Reaches Rs 21 Crore

Along with its domestic earnings, The Diplomat has also gathered Rs 3.3 crore from international markets, bringing its total worldwide collection to Rs 21 crore.

Low Occupancy but Strong in Some Cities

On Tuesday, The Diplomat recorded an overall occupancy rate of 8.46% across 2,657 shows in India. Chennai led with 27% occupancy from just 22 shows, followed by Pune with 12.25% from 181 shows. Jaipur recorded 11.75% from 82 shows, Mumbai had 10% from 469 shows, and Delhi-NCR saw 7.75% from 739 shows.

Story of a High-Stakes Diplomatic Mission

Directed by Shivam Nair and written by Ritesh Shah, The Diplomat stars John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb. The film is based on real-life events and revolves around Indian diplomat J.P. Singh. He finds himself in the middle of an international crisis when Uzma Ahmed arrives at the Indian embassy, claiming she was kidnapped and forced into marriage in Pakistan. What follows is a tense diplomatic and legal battle, filled with pressure and challenges.
