Vinay Shrestha is an actor known for his selective and impactful performances. He doesn’t act in many films just for the sake of numbers. Instead, he chooses films with meaningful stories and characters that touch his soul.

That’s why he appears in movies only occasionally, often with serious themes. While other actors are busy doing multiple films a year, Vinay stands out, focusing on quality rather than quantity.

To outsiders, it may seem like Vinay has stepped away from the film industry, but he insists otherwise. “I was never gone; I’ve always been part of the film world,” he says. However, after the release of Romeo and Muna, he distanced himself from films. Following COVID-19, he worked on a web series called Sutra, but neither Romeo and Muna nor Sutra succeeded commercially. As a result, Vinay chose to remain quiet and wait for better opportunities.

Several offers came his way, but due to various reasons, the projects didn’t move forward. This created a long gap in his film career. He explains, “Making a film isn’t like preparing a daily meal. It takes mental and physical readiness. The story and character have to resonate with your soul.”

Romeo and Muna was a unique film with a fresh storyline and a lot of effort from the team, including significant production costs. The animation, inspired by famous painter Vincent van Gogh’s artworks, added beauty to the film. Despite the hard work, repeated delays in its release negatively impacted its performance at the box office. However, the film gained appreciation after its release on YouTube, with many calling Vinay an “underrated actor.”

Vinay feels Romeo and Muna was ahead of its time. “As an actor and producer, I am happy with the film. Success or failure is part of the gamble in filmmaking,” he says. “But the show must go on.”

Vinay has never chased popularity. “I don’t run after fame. I prefer doing projects that naturally bring recognition,” he explains. For him, content matters more than trying to stay in the limelight constantly.

After his debut in Sano Sansar, Vinay’s First Love became a blockbuster. However, films like Mero Love Story and Visa Girl didn’t perform well at the box office. Still, Vinay remains content because he believes in continuing his work regardless of commercial success.

Vinay is now set to return with the sequel to Resham Filili. The original film, released in 2015, faced an unexpected hurdle when a devastating earthquake hit Nepal on its release day. While the film couldn’t achieve commercial success due to the disaster, its catchy song Jaalma became widely popular. Inspired by the original film’s potential, Vinay decided to create a sequel, Feri Resham Filili.

The sequel continues Resham’s story 10 years later, exploring themes of love, friendship, and human relationships while keeping the comedy elements that made the first film memorable. Vinay has worked hard to portray the character of Resham, who remains close to his heart.

Though Vinay’s previous films didn’t achieve great box office success, he stays optimistic. “Maybe I didn’t know how to market myself as an actor,” he reflects. Despite being praised as a promising actor, he feels he hasn’t been able to showcase his talent fully due to his focus on film production.

With Feri Resham Filili, Vinay is ready to bring new energy to his acting career. He’s passionate about continuing his journey in the film industry and believes in the motto: “The show must go on.”
