In Kapilvastu, a bus (Ga 1 Kha 9013) traveling from Dang to Pokhara collided with an auto-rickshaw (Lu 1 Ha 4154) at Shivraj Municipality-1, Umari, on Sunday night. Two people died in the crash.
According to District Police Office DSP Ritendra Singh, the deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Rit Bahadur Sunar and 18-year-old Rabina Rana. Two others, Pabitra Sunar from Umari and 18-year-old Shakti Bhandari from Pyuthan, are undergoing treatment at City Hospital in Bhairahawa.
In another accident in Jhapa, a pedestrian died after being hit by a Scorpio vehicle.
The incident happened around 7:30 PM at Mechinagar-12, Saharedangi. The Scorpio (Me 1 Cha 6131) hit a pedestrian and fled the scene. The man, believed to be around 45 years old, died while receiving treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod. His identity has not yet been confirmed.
Police have taken the driver, 48-year-old Gajendra Bahadur Bista of Haldibari-1, Jhapa, into custody along with the vehicle.
