After rewriting box office history in Kerala, Thudarum, the Mohanlal and Sobhana starrer directed by Tharun Moorthy, is now ready to make its digital debut. The Malayalam crime thriller will begin streaming on JioHotstar from May 30, and will be available in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
The film made headlines by becoming the first Malayalam movie to collect ₹100 crore solely in Kerala, a feat no film in the industry had achieved before. Comparisons were quickly drawn to Mohanlal’s 2013 blockbuster Drishyam, as Thudarum won both critical acclaim and audience love.

JioHotstar officially announced the streaming release on their social media platforms, delighting fans who have been eagerly awaiting the film’s digital arrival.
A Box Office Phenomenon
Released on April 25, Thudarum saw an extraordinary theatrical run. Globally, it grossed over ₹231 crore, making it the third-highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, while cementing its place as Kerala’s top-grossing movie ever.
Earlier this month, Mohanlal shared a celebratory post on Instagram, writing, “#Thudarum storms into the record books with its first 100 crore mark exclusively at the Kerala box office! A milestone that we created together! Thank you, Kerala.” The promotional poster boldly declared: “A new chapter in Kerala box office history. ₹100 crore Kerala gross.”

Directed by Tharun Moorthy and co-written by KR Sunil, Thudarum is produced by M Renjith under Rejaputhra Visual Media. The film features a strong ensemble cast including Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, and Krishna Prabha.
The story revolves around Shanmugham ‘Benz’, a humble taxi driver whose peaceful life is turned upside down when his cherished car goes missing. What follows is a gripping journey as he taps into an unexpected side of himself to protect everything he holds dear.
