A tiger was found dead in the core area of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-1 in Banke.
A patrol team discovered the tiger’s body this morning, according to Mandeep Pangeni, the information officer of Banke National Park. The tiger is believed to have died a few days ago based on its condition.
“The tiger’s back part was eaten by wild animals when the patrol team found it,” Pangeni said. “It seems the tiger died two to three days ago, not recently.” He also estimated the tiger to be around 12 to 13 years old.
Birendra Kandel, the chief of Banke National Park, confirmed that the tiger’s death was due to natural causes. A veterinary team from Bardiya National Park is on its way to conduct a forensic examination of the dead tiger.
Kandel mentioned that the park’s patrol team conducts daily patrols in the core and buffer zones of the park in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
