Tiger Group has won the fifth Tiger Cup volleyball title in the women’s category, defeating the previous champions, APF, in a thrilling comeback. The final match, held on Sunday at the Pokhara Stadium volleyball court, ended with Tiger Group winning 3-2 in sets. With this victory, Tiger Group avenged their loss to APF in the first qualifier, where APF had defeated them 3-1 and reached the final. Despite being unbeaten until the final, APF failed to defend their title.
Tiger Group made a strong comeback after being down twice in the match. APF took the first set 25-17, but the second set was highly competitive, with Tiger Group winning 29-27 in a tiebreaker to equalize the match. APF regained the lead by winning the third set 25-21. However, in the fourth set, Tiger Group turned things around, winning 25-16 and forcing the match to a fifth set. The fifth set was closely contested, but with the support of local fans, Tiger Group won 15-12, securing the championship.
This was the first time Tiger Group fielded a team of their own, and they won the title in their debut appearance. As champions, they received 585,555 Nepali rupees, while APF, the runners-up, received 285,555 Nepali rupees.
In the men’s category, Nepal Police Club will compete against Gandaki Province later today.
