The film Aktor: Take One, starring Pradeep Khadka and Raj Ballav Koirala, has been performing well at the box office. Since its premiere, it has received positive responses from the audience.
Despite facing legal obstacles before its release, the film finally hit theaters on Friday. With over 300 shows running across cinemas, Aktor: Take One is now facing a new challenge—piracy.
Key Scenes Leaked on Social Media
Crucial scenes, including the climax, have been leaked on video-sharing platforms like TikTok. This has posed a significant threat to the film’s success. The unauthorized release of important dialogues and climax scenes not only affects the filmmakers financially but also ruins the movie experience for audiences who have yet to watch it.
Many viewers have urged others in the comment sections of these leaked clips to refrain from piracy. However, the issue remains unresolved.
Authorities Warn Against Piracy
On October 5, the Film Development Board of Nepal issued a warning against illegally recording and uploading films on social media. The board emphasized that unauthorized use of major portions of a film could result in significant financial losses for the producers and harm the efforts of everyone involved.
Uploading or distributing someone else’s creative work without permission is a punishable offense under Nepali law. The board has warned that, under the Copyright Act 2059 and its regulations of 2061, individuals found guilty of piracy could face severe consequences, including confiscation of equipment used for recording, fines, penalties, and even compensation payments.
While piracy continues to be a challenge for the Nepali film industry, authorities and filmmakers are urging the public to respect intellectual property rights and support the film through legal means.
