Nepal is experiencing the combined effects of western winds and a low-pressure system. These conditions have led to partial to moderate cloud cover in the Himalayan region, with a possibility of light snowfall in one or two areas.
In the hilly regions, partial to moderate cloud cover is anticipated, while the Terai region is expected to have mostly clear skies with some partial cloud cover.
Since Sunday night, weather disturbances from the Far-Western region have impacted most parts of the country by Tuesday. Despite dense cloud cover caused by the western low-pressure system, rainfall has been minimal. However, the Kathmandu Valley and a few other areas experienced light rain yesterday evening.
Over the past 24 hours, the Far West has recorded 9 mm of rainfall in Dadeldhura and 4 mm in Dipayal, along with snowfall in high-altitude regions and scattered light rain. While gradual weather improvements are expected starting today, meteorologist Min Kumar Aryal of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology says another weather system is likely to approach from Friday night.
The upcoming system is predicted to primarily affect Western Nepal, with rainfall likely to extend to the Kathmandu Valley.
The department has also issued an advisory regarding the possibility of fog and mist in some parts of the Terai and the Valley during the mornings. People are advised to exercise caution as these conditions could impact daily life, health, transportation, and aviation operations.
