In a rare move, Tom Cruise has opened up about his ex-wife Nicole Kidman in a new interview with Sight and Sound. The actor spoke about how he personally suggested Nicole’s name to legendary director Stanley Kubrick for the lead role in their 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut.
How It All Came Together
Tom recalled how Kubrick reached out to him through director Sydney Pollack. “He sent me a fax, and I flew out to his house. I landed right in his backyard,” Tom shared. He said he read the script the day before and spent the whole day talking about the project with Kubrick.
As they got to know each other, Tom made the case for Nicole. “I suggested Nicole play the role [of Alice]. Because obviously she’s a great actress,” he said.
