Tom Hardy Reveals Scrapped Spider-Man & Venom Crossover

Venom is one of the most popular characters in Marvel Comics. Fans love his connection with Spider-Man, which always creates excitement. Many people were hoping to see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom together in a movie. However, that project never happened.

Recently, Tom Hardy, who plays Venom, appeared on The Discourse Podcast from The Playlist and shared some surprising details. He revealed that a movie featuring both characters was planned but never made it to theaters. Hardy didn’t explain exactly why, but he hinted that “studio politics” were involved.

“We got as close as we could to making it happen,” Hardy said. “I would have loved to do it because it would have been so much fun.”

When asked if studio politics caused the project to fail, Hardy simply replied, “for all the reasons you explained.”

Hardy also said he was excited about the project because of the impact it could have on kids. He explained that while adults enjoy superhero movies, children see these characters as heroes. It was disappointing for him that kids wouldn’t get to see their favorite characters together on screen.

Tom Hardy first played Venom in 2018, then returned for Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021. His next appearance as the character will be in Venom: The Last Dance in 2025.
