Tragic School Bus Accident in Shankharapur: Three Students Dead, 40 Injured

Satya Sai Academy, located in Maijubahal, Chabahil, had taken its students on a picnic to Shankharapur Municipality-5, Kathmandu. However, on their way back from the enjoyable trip in Kattike, the bus carrying the students met with an accident midway.

As of the time this news was prepared, three people had died, and 40 others were injured. According to the Sankhu Police Post, the injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

The entire school community is mourning after the accident. In a brief conversation with The Ritible, Principal Marichman Limbu was in no condition to speak.

“I am not in a state to say anything. This was an unexpected incident,” he said emotionally.

Parents have been calling Principal Limbu to inquire about the condition of their children.

According to Ramesh Napit, the mayor of Shankharapur Municipality, the accident involved a bus returning from a picnic.
“The bus had come for a picnic. The accident happened while returning from the picnic,” he said.

The police stated that the cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The road in that area is also narrow. The driver has been taken into police custody.

The identities of the three students who lost their lives in the accident have been confirmed.
The deceased are:

  • Krishal Puri (11 years old) from Urlabari Municipality-7, Morang, residing in Kapan, Kathmandu.
  • Suresh Tamang (24 years old) from Balephi Rural Municipality-7, Sindhupalchok, residing in Chabahil.
  • Shushanka Dotel (14 years old) from Sindhupalchok, currently living in Bhimsen Gola, Kathmandu.

According to the police, Krishal was declared dead at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (Maharajgunj), Suresh at Nepal Medical College, and Shushanka at Shankharapur Hospital.
