A cargo truck heading to Kathmandu from Dolakha caused an accident on Friday, hitting a motorcycle and a scooter. One person died, and two others were injured in the incident.
According to Sindhupalchok District Police, the accident occurred on the Lamosanghu-Jiri road section at 8 Kilo in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-7. The truck (license plate Madhesh Province 03-02-Kha-0534) hit the motorcycle, killing Dawa Chhiring Tamang from Lisankhu Pakhar Rural Municipality-7, Dandapakhar, on the spot.
The collision caused Tamang’s motorcycle (license plate Ba-02-033-Pa-7306) to catch fire. Locals tried to extinguish the fire when they saw both the motorcycle and Tamang burning. Shortly after, the same truck hit a scooter (license plate Ba-Pra-02-048-Pa-7539).
Two people on the scooter were injured and are being treated at Sindhu Sada Bahar Hospital in Khadichaur Bazaar, Balephi Rural Municipality-7, police said.
The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, the police have arrested the driver, Kiran Shah from Tanahun, as confirmed by Inspector Sumesh Pandey of the Barhabise Area Police Office.
