Indian director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film ‘Spirit’ will now feature actress Trupti Dimri opposite superstar Prabhas. This decision came after actress Deepika Padukone stepped down from the project. The producers announced Trupti as Deepika’s replacement, and the actress confirmed the news on her Instagram.

After signing the contract, Trupti shared her feelings on Instagram, writing,
“I still can’t believe it. I’m so grateful to be part of this journey. Thank you, Sandeep Reddy Vanga. I feel honored to be part of your vision.”
Previous Collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Trupti has worked with director Sandeep before in the film ‘Animal’, which gained her wide recognition and even earned her the nickname ‘National Cross’ among fans. This new film, ‘Spirit’, will be the first time Trupti and Prabhas will share the screen.
Film Production Update
The movie is currently in the pre-production phase, and shooting is expected to start soon. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar. Originally, the shoot was planned for late 2024, but it was delayed due to Deepika Padukone’s pregnancy.
Why Deepika Left ‘Spirit’
Deepika became a mother in September 2024 and later decided not to continue with the film because of her busy schedule and personal priorities. Earlier reports suggested she was offered a huge payment of ₹20 crore for the role. However, her demands included shorter work shifts (only 8 hours per day, 5 days a week), a large fee, profit sharing, and no Telugu dialogues. The producers did not agree to these terms.
Director’s Decision to Replace Deepika
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was reportedly unhappy with Deepika’s requests and decided to remove her from the project. This led to Trupti Dimri stepping in to take on the role, much to the excitement of the film’s fans.
