Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo has denied several allegations of inappropriate and intimidating behavior while working on his TV shows.

The accusations were revealed in an ITV News investigation, which claimed to have spoken to “dozens” of people who described his comments as “unacceptable,” “distressing,” and “horrendous.”

D’Acampo responded through his legal team, stating that he “firmly denied” the allegations, calling them “deeply upsetting.”

ITV News shared multiple claims from anonymous individuals who said they had worked with D’Acampo on various TV productions. However, BBC News has not personally spoken to the accusers or confirmed the allegations.

According to the report, D’Acampo was accused of aggressive behavior, using abusive language during outbursts, and making sexualized comments. Some production staff reportedly felt fearful and uncomfortable due to his actions.

In his response, D’Acampo “firmly denied” the claims, saying they were from more than 10 years ago. He also stated that he had “never been made aware of these matters previously.”

His statement continued: “I am a father, husband, and have worked with over 1,500 people on around 80 productions throughout my career, which I have been very proud of.

“I take such matters extremely seriously,” he said, adding that the claims of improper behavior were “deeply upsetting.”

D’Acampo, 48, has been a well-known face on UK television since the early 2000s. He has mostly worked with ITV, starring in several cooking and travel shows, and has also appeared on various entertainment programs, including some on the BBC.

ITV released a statement saying that production companies are “primarily responsible for the duty of care of everyone they work with.”

The broadcaster also stated that it had “strengthened” its policies in the past five years to ensure high standards from the production companies it collaborates with.

Their statement added: “All of the concerns and complaints shared with ITN describe behavior that is inappropriate and unacceptable.

“Most of them were not reported to ITV at the time. However, when issues have been raised with ITV, action has been taken.”
