Two farmers died in Rautahat while trying to irrigate their rice fields using electric motors.
The deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Moktar Dewan of Jamuniya, Kathariya Municipality–2, and 40-year-old Rambabu Mukhiya of Bishunpura Manpur, ward no. 4, Madhavnarayan Municipality.
According to police, Moktar Dewan was electrocuted late last night while trying to run a motor pump in his field. He was rushed to Grandi Hospital in Garuda, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Similarly, Rambabu Mukhiya was electrocuted at around 7 a.m. today while irrigating his field. He was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur, but he too was declared dead by medical staff.
DSP Rajan Karki of the Area Police Office, Garuda, said that both bodies are now at the Provincial Hospital in Gaur and further investigation is underway.
In recent times, such incidents of electrocution during irrigation have been increasing in the Rautahat district.
