Two young girls drowned in water that had collected in a brick kiln pit in Parsa on Monday. The incident happened at a brick kiln operated by Santosh Sah in Birgunj Metropolitan City-2.
According to the Parsa police, Santosh Sah runs the Hira Brick Kiln in Parsa Gadhi Municipality-5. After rain the previous night, water had collected in the kiln pit. The two girls drowned in the water, the police said.
The victims were identified as 5-year-old Neha, daughter of Rustam Miya, and 4-year-old Afsana, daughter of Mukhtar Miya, both from Parsa Gadhi Municipality-5.
The girls were taken to Narayani Hospital in Birgunj for treatment after the incident, but doctors declared them dead.
The police said the two girls had gone to graze goats in the morning and are suspected to have drowned while playing in the water-filled pit. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
