A tipper accident in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4, Myagdi, claimed the lives of two workers today.
According to Police Inspector Sagar Paudel from the District Police Office, the accident occurred on the road leading to the Audit No. 2 tunnel of the under-construction Rahughat Hydropower Project. The tipper fell about 300 meters off the road, killing two Indian workers.
The victims were identified as 33-year-old driver Dasharath Yadav from Uttar Pradesh and 40-year-old co-driver Satradhan Rajak from Madhya Pradesh, India. Both died on the spot.
Police reported that the workers had gone missing from their worksite around 1 a.m. last night. They were found this morning during a search operation, already dead in the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
With the help of police and project workers, the bodies were retrieved from the accident site.
The Rahughat Hydropower Project, with a capacity of 40 megawatts, is being developed by Raghuganga Hydropower Limited, a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority. The civil contractor, Indian company Jaypee Associates, is handling the construction.
