Two Teej Songs Face Ban Request Over Cultural Offense

Two Teej Songs Face Ban Request Over Cultural Offense

The organization Rastriya Lok Sancharakarmi Nepal has officially urged the government to ban two recently released Teej songs, citing that they insult Nepal’s cultural values and traditions.

The two songs in question are:

  • “Gai Kalo”, sung by Dhruva Poon and Chandrakumari Shahi
  • “Salla Damar”, sung by Rajkumar Wali, Asmita Thapa, and Laxmi Thapa

In a press release, the organization stated that these songs include vulgar, disrespectful, and culturally offensive lyrics that misrepresent the true spirit of Teej, a significant Hindu festival celebrated by women across Nepal.

They have asked the Ministry of Information and Communication, Nepal Police Cyber Bureau, and artist associations to take immediate action against the production and release of such songs and videos.

The organization expressed its growing concern over the commercialization and distortion of Teej celebrations in recent years. They criticized content creators, YouTubers, and some artists for using Teej as a profit-driven opportunity while ignoring the ethical and traditional values it represents.

Furthermore, Rastriya Lok Sancharakarmi Nepal has announced plans to meet Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to address this issue at the policy level.
