Two young men drowned while swimming in the Surma River at Gauriganga Municipality-11 in Kailali district on Thursday. The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Umesh Dhami and 20-year-old Prakash Dhami, both locals of the area.
Disappeared During Afternoon Swim
According to police, the two had gone swimming around 2:45 PM, roughly 700 meters southwest of their home. Shortly after entering the river, they disappeared under the water.
Found Unconscious After Search
As soon as the incident was reported, a police team from Masuriya Area Police Office, with help from local residents, began searching the river. Both young men were eventually found in an unconscious state.
Declared Dead at Hospital
They were rushed to Seti Provincial Hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, doctors declared both of them dead upon arrival.
