Sankhuwasabha police arrested two young men on May 26, 2025, accused of raping two minor girls. The incident reportedly occurred on May 21 in Khadbari bazaar, where the suspects allegedly lured the victims, aged 16 and 17, before committing the crime.
The arrested individuals are Tufan Rai, 35, and Prakash Rai, 28, both from Chichila Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha. According to Inspector Abhishek Kumar Shrestha, the suspects deceived the girls with promises of food and a tour, took them to a hotel on a motorcycle, and allegedly assaulted them.
Following a formal complaint by the victims’ families, the police detained the suspects on Sunday. They are now in custody, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover further details.
