Sudesh Parajuli, a politburo member of the CPN (Unified Socialist), has raised objections over internal criticisms directed at party leadership, suggesting that certain individuals are attacking top leaders in pursuit of fame and attention.
Addressing the fifth district convention of the party’s Student District Committee, Parajuli indirectly targeted Standing Committee member Ram Kumari Jhakri. Without naming her directly, he accused some figures within the party of engaging in “celebrity-style stunt politics” to gain attention, particularly in light of recent comments made against party chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.
The controversy emerged after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case against Chairman Nepal, resulting in a Special Court order for a bail of Rs. 3.5 million. Following this, Ram Kumari Jhakri publicly criticized Chairman Nepal during a program in Rupandehi, which sparked internal backlash and led the party’s Disciplinary Committee to seek clarification from her.
Parajuli defended Chairman Nepal as the only “untarnished figure” in contemporary Nepali politics, stating, “Some people are attacking our party’s core leadership just to become celebrities or create stunts. Let me be clear, Madhav Nepal is the only spotless leader in the current political scene.”
He also hinted at retaliation, saying that when the time comes, the party would “settle the score” with those causing disruptions. “We’ve been observing these stunts in the public sphere. The time hasn’t come yet—but when it does, they will be held accountable,” he said.
Parajuli claimed the case against Nepal is politically motivated and vowed to fight back both legally and politically. He further accused former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of misusing the CIAA to exact political revenge.
“Our party members should not lose courage. The entire party stands with the leadership,” he said, asserting that they would respond boldly to both political conspiracies and legal challenges.
