Dr. Keshav Shrestha, who went missing after posting a goodbye message on Facebook, has been found safe.
According to SSP Bhishma Adhikari of Kathmandu Police, Dr. Shrestha was located at the Shreenath Boutique Resort in Tarkeshwor Municipality-3. He has now been brought to the Kathmandu police office in Bhadrakali for further inquiries.
Police had launched a search operation after he disappeared earlier today, shortly after sharing a long emotional post on Facebook.
What Did He Post on Facebook?
In his post, Dr. Shrestha claimed that he was unfairly transferred from Ramechhap District Hospital to Hetauda due to false accusations and political pressure. He wrote that he had been working to reform the hospital during his 25-month tenure, 18 of which he served as the chief medical superintendent.
He said he faced opposition from some staff and local leaders who didn’t want change. He accused them of defaming him and making unreasonable demands, including using hospital resources for personal gain.
Dr. Shrestha specifically mentioned political pressure from a local leader named Kedar Karki. He alleged that he was threatened in his own office, with Karki reportedly saying, “If you’re not transferred in 3 days, my name isn’t Kedar.”
He further said that while an investigation was still ongoing, he was suddenly ordered to report to the Ministry within 24 hours without any proper hearing.
After reaching Hetauda, he claimed he was forcibly sent back to Ramechhap without explanation, despite having stitches on his body and being with his wife and two-year-old daughter.
Due to the stress, he said he even considered suicide. “Instead of being rewarded for improving the hospital, I was punished,” he wrote. “I dreamed of doing something meaningful in Nepal, but now I only feel regret.”
Police are currently monitoring his condition, and further steps will be taken based on his mental and physical health.
