The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) confirmed on Wednesday that it will continue its bid to host the 2031 Women’s World Cup, in collaboration with the CONCACAF region. This follows a FIFA decision that increased the chances of North America securing the event. The USSF expressed excitement about welcoming teams and fans, while aiming to inspire the next generation and promote the game globally.

Earlier, the US and Mexico had withdrawn from the 2027 bid to focus on 2031 instead. Brazil won the 2027 tournament hosting rights. Now, FIFA has narrowed the choice for the 2031 Women’s World Cup to two regions: North America (CONCACAF) and Africa (CAF). Despite the US bid, South Africa and Morocco are also competing to host the event.

A North American bid could attract large crowds, making it an appealing choice for FIFA. North America has hosted the Women’s World Cup three times, with the US hosting in 1999 and 2003, and Canada in 2015. A successful 2031 bid would coincide with other major sporting events in the region, including the men’s World Cup in 2026 and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

FIFA will announce the 2031 Women’s World Cup host during the 76th FIFA Congress, ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
