Water Supply Disrupted at Teaching Hospital

The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) has been facing a water shortage for the past 24 hours, creating a serious situation.

Due to the lack of water, patients, their attendants, hospital staff, doctors, and nurses are struggling.

According to hospital administrator Saraswati Gurung, the hospital’s borewell is not working, and the regular water supply through the pipeline has also stopped. She mentioned that discussions are underway to find a solution.

A hospital staff member said that the lack of water has affected cleanliness and could impact medical services. “Even surgeries might have to be stopped,” he said.

KUKL’s Water Supply to the Hospital

The Maharajgunj branch of Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Limited (KUKL) provides water to the hospital. While residents receive water through half-inch pipes, the hospital has a two-inch pipeline. However, the supply schedule remains the same for everyone.

A KUKL representative stated, “We were not aware that the hospital’s water supply had stopped. We will investigate the issue and take immediate action if there is a problem on our side.”
