Elon Musk was born in 1971 in South Africa. Interested in technology from a young age, he taught himself programming and created a video game by age 12. Musk later moved to Canada and the U.S., studying at the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1995, Musk co-founded Zip2, later sold for $300 million. He then launched X.com, which became PayPal, sold to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002.
In 2002, Musk founded SpaceX to reduce space travel costs. After several failures, SpaceX succeeded in 2008 with the Falcon 1 launch, making private space exploration a reality.
Musk joined Tesla in 2004, transforming it into a leading electric vehicle company. Tesla's Model S, Model 3, and Model Y helped make electric cars mainstream.
In 2008, Musk co-founded SolarCity, focusing on renewable energy. Tesla later acquired the company, integrating solar power and energy storage into Musk's clean energy vision.
Musk founded The Boring Company in 2016, aiming to reduce urban traffic through tunnels. He also co-founded Neuralink to develop brain-machine interfaces for human-AI collaboration.
