WhatsApp Brings New Call Features for Android Users

WhatsApp has introduced three new features for Android users: the ability to mute the mic, turn off the camera before answering, and use emoji reactions during video calls. Learn how these updates improve privacy and control.

WhatsApp has introduced three new call features for Android users to improve privacy and user control during audio and video calls. These features are currently available in the beta version 2.25.10.16.

Mute Microphone Before Answering a Call

Now, users can mute their microphone before picking up a voice call. A new mute button is available directly in the notification panel. This is helpful for those who are in noisy places and want to avoid background noise when answering a call.

Turn Off Camera Before Accepting a Video Call

A new option allows users to turn off their camera before joining a video call. This feature is useful for people who want a few seconds to prepare or do not want to appear on camera immediately. It also offers more privacy when receiving calls from unknown numbers.

Send Emoji Reactions During Video Calls

WhatsApp is also testing emoji reactions in video calls. This feature lets users respond in real-time using emojis, making video chats more interactive and fun.

Who Can Use These Features Now?

These features are currently available only to selected beta testers using Android. WhatsApp is expected to roll out these updates to all users in the coming weeks.
