Messaging app WhatsApp has announced a new privacy feature called Advanced Chat Privacy. This feature is designed to keep users’ most sensitive conversations safe. It is now available to WhatsApp users around the world.
With this new feature, WhatsApp has added a setting for both personal and group chats. If a user feels a conversation is very private, they can use Advanced Chat Privacy to prevent that chat from being shared outside WhatsApp.
Once this feature is turned on, the other person in the chat won’t be able to export the conversation. Also, any photos or videos sent will not automatically download to their phone. This helps users feel more confident that their private chats and media will stay secure.
How to Turn On This Feature
To enable Advanced Chat Privacy:
- Go to WhatsApp Settings.
- Tap on the name of the chat you want to protect.
- Find and tap on the Advanced Chat Privacy option.
Note: This is the first version of the feature. WhatsApp plans to improve it further and add more options in the future.
WhatsApp already offers several privacy features, like the option to lock personal chats. To lock any chat:
- Tap on the chat name.
- Scroll down to find the Chat Lock option.
- Tap to activate it.
