Carnatic singer and dancer Sivasri Skandaprasad married Tejasvi Surya, the BJP Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South, in a private ceremony on Thursday. The event was attended by close family, friends, and select political figures, including BJP leaders Annamalai, Pratap Simha, and Amit Malaviya.
Who is Sivasri Skandaprasad?
Sivasri Skandaprasad is a Chennai-based artist renowned for her expertise in Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam dance, and visual arts. Born on August 1, 1996, she hails from a prestigious musical family. Her father, Seerkazhi Sri J Skandaprasad, is a well-known Mridangam maestro, and her grandparents were celebrated musicians and vocalists in the world of Bharatanatyam.
A graduate in Bio-Engineering from SASTRA University, Sivasri also holds a Master’s in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras. Trained under Guru Sri A S Murali in Carnatic music, she has won several accolades, including the Bharatha Kala Choodamani, Yuva Samman Award, and Bhajana Bhushan.
Apart from her music and dance performances, Sivasri is passionate about promoting traditional Indian art forms through her platform, Ahuti. She even contributed a song to the movie Ponniyin Selvan 1 composed by A R Rahman.
