The police have confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed against Deepak Barailee, the man accused of fraud and threats by singer Eleena Chauhan. Barailee allegedly collected payments from event organizers by falsely claiming to be Eleena’s manager.
SP Deepak Raj Awasthi of the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau stated that without an official complaint, they are unable to take action. “So far, we have not received any complaint on this matter,” he told Baahrakhari. “If a complaint is filed, we will investigate.”
Despite making her allegations public, Eleena is frustrated that no action has been taken against Barailee. She claimed she has been too busy to visit the police station herself but mentioned that many others have also accused him of fraud. However, she feels that authorities are not taking the matter seriously.
“After I posted the video, more of his misdeeds came to light,” Eleena said. “Yet, despite everything, he still hasn’t been arrested.”
The police clarified that they do not investigate personal disputes based solely on social media claims. “If a complaint is lodged, that’s different,” said a senior officer. “But we can’t take action just based on Facebook posts or hearsay. If it involved state affairs, we would have investigated, but this is a personal matter.”
In a leaked audio clip, Barailee can be heard warning Eleena with what he calls “advice” rather than a threat. “Everyone benefits from a burning fire,” he said. “You should be careful, or something big could happen in your life. Keep this saved, this won’t be deleted.”
Initially, Eleena had posted a video warning fellow artists about potential fraud, claiming that Barailee had taken her earnings under false pretenses. Later, she released an audio recording of him allegedly threatening her, further intensifying the controversy.
As of now, the case remains at a standstill, waiting for an official complaint to be filed before the police can take action.
