How Prince Alwaleed became the ‘Sleeping Prince’
In 2005, when Prince Alwaleed was only 15 years old and studying at a military academy in London, a severe car crash caused serious brain injuries. Despite receiving the best medical treatment from experts in the US, Spain, and Saudi Arabia, he remained unconscious, with only small movements that gave hope to his family.
A father’s unwavering love and faith
Throughout these years, Prince Khaled bin Talal, the prince’s father, never gave up. He refused to stop life support and made his palace a center of prayer. Farewell after two decades of hope
After 20 years in a coma, Prince Alwaleed passed away peacefully. His father shared a heartfelt message quoting the Quran:
“O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], and enter My Paradise…”
The royal family invited mourners to pay their respects at the palace in Riyadh. Funeral prayers were held on July 20 at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque for men and at King Faisal Specialist Hospital for women.
