A woman who was swept away along with a car in the Bishnumati River near Tokha, Kathmandu, has been rescued alive by police with the help of locals. The incident occurred around 10 PM on Tuesday night near Grandy Hospital in Tokha Municipality–6 when a private car (Ba Pra 01-031 Ch 6141) veered off the riverbank and plunged into the swollen stream.
The car was driven by Ankush Singh from Dhumbarahi. While Singh managed to jump to safety, passenger Bhawana Oli, originally from Dang and currently living in Tokha, was carried away by the current inside the vehicle.
The rescue team found the car stuck near the Baneshwor bridge, where they safely pulled Bhawana from the vehicle. She was immediately taken to Green City Hospital for treatment.
Police later retrieved the vehicle from the river using a crane and transported it to the New Buspark police station for further investigation.
