Indian cinema icon Yash celebrated his 39th birthday by unveiling a first-look video for his highly anticipated film, Toxic – A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. This marks his first project since the blockbuster K.G.F series.
The teaser showcases Yash in a white suit and fedora, holding a cigar, as he strides confidently through an opulent nightclub.
Yash, a Kannada-language actor turned pan-Indian superstar, gained massive recognition with his role as Rocky Bhai in K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018) and K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022). These films catapulted him to nationwide fame, breaking language barriers and achieving unparalleled box-office success. Notably, the second chapter ranks as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film ever. Before his K.G.F fame, Yash’s early career showcased his versatility, with standout performances in Kannada films like Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari (2014) and Googly (2013).
Toxic is directed by Geetu Mohandas, known for her critically acclaimed films. Her debut feature, Liar’s Dice, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was India’s official Oscar entry in 2015, winning two National Film Awards. Her follow-up film, Moothon (The Elder One), a Malayalam-Hindi bilingual, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019 and received widespread acclaim. Before becoming a director, Mohandas was a celebrated actress in Malayalam cinema.
“Toxic challenges conventions and aims to stir chaos within us,” Mohandas said during the unveiling of the film’s first look. “Today, we not only present a glimpse of the film but also celebrate Yash — a visionary and charismatic star loved across the nation.”
Collaborating with Yash on the film’s creation was a remarkable experience, Mohandas added. “Merging our artistic perspectives has resulted in a film that transcends borders, languages, and cultures. This isn’t just a movie to watch; it’s an experience designed to evoke primal emotions.”
