A young man has been arrested in Makwanpur for illegally possessing an Italian pistol, bullets, and a large quantity of drugs. The arrest was made on the evening of Jestha 31 by a joint team from Bagmati Province Police and Makwanpur District Police Office.
The suspect is Raju Syangtang, a resident of Raksing Rural Municipality-1. Police found a 7.65mm Universal Made in Italy pistol hidden under his bed, wrapped in cloth. Along with the pistol, a magazine and 13 rounds of bullets were seized.
In a further search, police also discovered a locally-made pistol hidden inside a maize husk in his shed, along with 12 more bullets.
Besides the weapons, police confiscated 1.31 kg of suspected opium and over 22.8 kg of cannabis from his house. The suspect is now under 7-day police custody as investigations continue under charges of drug trafficking and illegal arms possession.
