The identity of the young man injured in police firing at Sabaila Municipality-9, Bhathihan, Dhanusha, has been confirmed. The injured has been identified as 20-year-old Santosh Kumar Yadav from Shahid Municipality-1, Kumbhakarna.
A clash broke out on Monday over naming a chowk (intersection) in Bhathihan. According to Dhanusha police spokesperson DSP Varun Bahadur Singh, the police had to open fire to control the situation.
Yadav was shot and taken to the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur for treatment. DSP Singh stated that he was shot in the rectal area.
Earlier, a signboard reading “Yadav Chowk” was placed at the location. However, after another community removed the board, tensions between the two groups escalated from Sunday.
