Zee5’s Chhal Kapat Review Is Chhal Kapat Worth Your Watch

Chhal Kapat Review- Shriya Pilgaonkar, known for playing diverse roles from the girl next door to a determined lawyer, steps into a police officer’s shoes for the first time in the upcoming Zee5 series Chhal Kapat – The Deception. The show is a gripping murder mystery set in a small town, where Shriya’s character, an IPS officer named Devika, investigates a complex case.

Breaking the Usual Stereotype of Women in Uniform on Screen

Traditionally, female cops in Hindi films have often been shown as tough and masculine to prove their strength. The blockbuster film Mardaani is a clear example, with its title meaning “masculine woman.” Shriya points out that this happens because society has deep-rooted biases, where women in power are expected to act aggressively to be taken seriously. She says, “It’s almost a defense mechanism shaped by years of social conditioning.”

Chhal Kapat Shows a Different Side of Female Police Officers

What makes Chhal Kapat stand out is how it presents Devika’s character differently. Shriya explains, “Devika keeps her femininity intact. She doesn’t need to be overly aggressive while questioning people. She can be gentle but also strong when needed.” The show avoids showing toughness just for the sake of it. Shriya adds that in male-dominated fields, women often hold on to power firmly, but the series balances this with Devika’s natural demeanor.
