Zero-Click Cyber Attack Hits WhatsApp, Data Theft Suspected

WhatsApp Hit by Cyber Attack

A cyber attack has targeted WhatsApp, a messaging platform known for its strong security. According to Meta, hackers used a zero-click method to carry out the attack. Reports say that a small number of WhatsApp users were affected by the cyber attackers.

Meta claims that the latest cyber attack on WhatsApp was done using Graphite, a surveillance software created by the Israeli company Paragon Solutions. It also confirmed that 90 WhatsApp accounts were hacked during this attack.

WhatsApp has also confirmed that 90 users were targeted, and their data may have been stolen. Among them were journalists and other important individuals, but no further details have been provided.

Meta stated that the cyber attackers carefully selected their targets, which included journalists, civil society members, and others. The affected WhatsApp users are from 20 different countries.

Paragon Solutions’ Graphite software works using the zero-click method. This means it can reach a device and steal data without the user clicking on anything. In such cases, smartphone users may not even realize that their phone has been attacked.
