Nepal will introduce 5G services by 2025, according to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Wireless Group (AWG) meeting in Kathmandu, NTA Deputy Director and spokesperson Pradeep Paudel confirmed that Nepal is preparing to launch 5G within the next year.
5G to Start in Kathmandu Valley
The first phase of 5G services will begin in Kathmandu Valley. Authorities are working on building the necessary infrastructure and discussing plans with telecom companies to ensure a smooth rollout.
Support for 5G Expansion
As the cost of 4G services has reduced telecom companies’ revenue, NTA is actively working to make 5G deployment easier. If required, the Rural Telecommunication Development Fund (RTDF) could be used to support the expansion of 5G across Nepal.
Nepal Has Already Tested 5G
Nepal Telecom has already conducted 5G trials in certain areas. Many countries around the world have adopted this advanced mobile technology, which offers faster internet speeds and better network performance compared to 4G.
With proper planning and investment, Nepalese consumers can expect to experience high-speed 5G services soon.
