9 Years Later Sanam Teri Kasam Finds New Love from the Audience

The romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, did not perform well at the box office when it first came out in 2016. However, its recent re-release has turned the tables, crossing its original earnings within just two days.

A Successful Comeback at the Box Office

Re-released on February 7, Sanam Teri Kasam received a warm welcome from the audience. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹4.25 crore on the first day, which is more than three times its original opening-day earnings. The second day saw a further increase of about 15%, with the movie making ₹5.25 crore. This brought the total to ₹9.50 crore, surpassing its original domestic collection. Surprisingly, the film even outperformed newly released movies like Loveyapa (₹2.35 crore) and Badass Ravikumar (₹3.15 crore).

Harshvardhan Rane Shares His Joy

Reacting to the film’s unexpected success, Harshvardhan Rane expressed his happiness in an interview with Free Press Journal. He said, “It feels very soothing. This moment reminds me of what Shah Rukh Khan said in Om Shanti Om, ‘If everything is not okay, then it is not the end. The movie is still left, my friend.’ After struggling for nine years, facing failures, and still pushing forward, I can truly relate to that dialogue. It feels like a healing moment, justifying what Farah ma’am wrote in the film.”

About Sanam Teri Kasam

Released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam was written and directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. It marked the Bollywood debut of Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane. The movie is a modern retelling of the Shiva-Sati legend and Erich Segal’s novel Love Story. Despite being made on a budget of ₹14 crore, it only earned ₹9.1 crore domestically, making it a box office flop at the time.

However, its re-release has brought new life to the film, proving that some stories just need a second chance to shine.
