Dang, Nepal – Police have arrested a gold smuggler who was continuously bringing illegal gold into Ghorahi.
According to Arjun Timilsina, Superintendent of Police in Dang, 25-year-old Ranjit Rasaili from Milan Chowk, Ghorahi-15, was caught with half a kilogram of gold.
Police reported that Rasaili was arrested last Friday evening while carrying 497.04 grams of smuggled gold.
Authorities had received information that Rasaili was transporting illegal gold on a motorcycle. Acting on this tip, police stopped him and seized the Lu 46 Pa 6161 motorcycle he was using.
In addition to the gold, police also found NPR 1,07,800 in cash with him. Investigations suggest that Rasaili is a key gold supplier in Dang, actively involved in smuggling operations.
Police are conducting further investigations to find out if he has connections with larger smuggling networks.
