Two individuals have been arrested on charges of fraud, after enticing people with the promise of high salaries through foreign employment opportunities in Portugal and Japan.
The arrested individuals are 29-year-old Purnabahadur Jethara from Bodekedara Rural Municipality-3, Doti, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, and 37-year-old Rajkumar Lama from Belkotgadhi Municipality-12, Nuwakot, currently residing in Kathmandu Nagarjun Municipality-2.
Among the arrested, Purnabahadur allegedly took 900,000 rupees from three victims, promising to send them to Portugal, while Rajkumar took 550,000 rupees from one victim, claiming he would send them to Japan. Both individuals were arrested based on complaints from the victims who were unable to contact them after the payments were made.
The arrests were made by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, with Purnabahadur being arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 and Rajkumar from Kathmandu Nagarjun Municipality-2 on Sunday.
