In the third ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, players from both teams wore green armbands to support the “Donate Organs, Save Lives” campaign. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced this shortly after the match began at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The initiative, led by ICC Chairman Jay Shah, aims to encourage organ donation awareness. Shah shared the news on social media, saying, “On this special day of the 3rd ODI, we are excited to launch the ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives’ campaign. Sport has the power to unite and inspire change, and through this initiative, we encourage everyone to make a life-saving decision by pledging to donate organs.”

Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill supported the cause. Kohli encouraged fans to “score the ultimate century” by registering as organ donors, while Gill urged others to “be the captain of life” and lead someone to a second chance at life. Other players like Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul also voiced their support, emphasizing how one donor can save multiple lives.

By making the decision to donate, they believe people can make a big difference, both on and off the field.
