Pokhara Thunders, a prominent club in the Nepal Super League (NSL), has appointed Aayush Ghalan as their new captain for the upcoming season. Aayush, who delivered an exceptional performance last season, will now lead the team in the third edition of the NSL.

Aayush joined Pokhara Thunders during the inaugural NSL season through the Talent Hunt program. In the second season, he played as the club’s marquee player and earned recognition for his leadership qualities, which led to his appointment as captain by the club’s president and director, Jamling Ghale.

Aayush shared his excitement about taking on the captaincy role. “I am grateful to Pokhara Thunders for trusting me with this responsibility. I will work hard to bring success to the team,” he said.

The captaincy switch comes after Dinesh Rajbanshi, who was the previous season’s captain for Pokhara Thunders, returned to Nepal from Australia to play in the NSL. Dinesh had been living in Australia but decided to come back and play the entire season for Pokhara Thunder.

Last season, Aayush scored two goals for Pokhara Thunders, further proving his importance to the team. In addition, the club has appointed Suman Shrestha as the new head coach and will reveal their marquee player on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, FC Dhangadhi has retained Devendra Tamang for the upcoming season. Devendra, who played every minute of every match last season without receiving a single yellow or red card, was a key figure in Dhangadhi’s defense. His discipline and leadership on the field will continue to be an asset to the team this season. Furthermore, Dhangadhi has also retained Nepali international defender Randip Paudel, strengthening their defense even further.

The third edition of the Nepal Super League will take place in March, with seven teams competing for the title. Additionally, the player auction for the NSL is set to take place this Saturday, adding more excitement to the competition.
