A massive fire broke out early Sunday at a nightclub in North Macedonia, killing at least 51 people and injuring more than 100, according to the country’s Ministry of Home Affairs.
The fire occurred at the “Pulse Club” in the eastern city of Kocani, about 100 kilometers from the capital, Skopje, as reported by the BBC.
Photos shared on social media show the building engulfed in flames and thick smoke. The fire reportedly started around 3 AM while a band named “Band ADN” was performing.
Flames continued to rise from the building for several hours. Around 1,500 people were present at the event when the fire broke out.
Local media suspect that fireworks or pyrotechnic equipment may have triggered the deadly blaze, though an official investigation is still ongoing.
