A thrilling high-altitude trail race is happening in Nepal’s beautiful Langtang Valley on Jestha 24. The “Langtang Trail Run” will start from the scenic Kyanjin Gompa at 3840 meters and end in Syabrubesi at 1900 meters. The total race distance will be 32 kilometers.
The event is organized by the Rasuwa Nuwakot Tourism Society. President Balram Neupane shared the details during a press conference, confirming that over 100 runners from Nepal and abroad are expected to participate. National athletes have also been invited.
Winners in both male and female categories will receive cash prizes. First place will get Rs. 1 lakh, second Rs. 75,000, third Rs. 50,000, fourth Rs. 25,000, and fifth Rs. 15,000. The total estimated cost of the event is around Rs. 40 lakhs.
The race aims to revive tourism in Langtang, which was badly affected by the 2015 earthquake. According to senior vice president Shiva Lamichhane, the goal is to make Langtang a new destination for international trail running.
Support is being provided by Bagmati Province’s Tourism Ministry, Nepal Tourism Board, and Gosaikunda Rural Municipality. A technical team of Gaganraj Neupane, Dinesh Tamang, and Urja Tamang will oversee the race operations.
