“He knows Mommy isn’t well” — Dipika Kakar shares how her 1-year old son sensed her battle with liver cancer

Popular TV actress Dipika Kakar, best known for her role as Simar in Sasural Simar Ka, has revealed in a heartfelt vlog that she is battling Stage 2 liver cancer. She and her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, opened up about her diagnosis and the emotional journey their family is going through, especially with their one-year-old son Ruhaan.

“Cancer Is a Scary Word,” Says Dipika Kakar

Dipika shared that discovering she had cancer was terrifying, not just for her but for her entire family. “Cancer is a scary word—for both the patient and their loved ones. But thankfully, the doctors have assured us that it was detected at a stage where treatment is very much possible,” she said in the vlog. The couple expressed their gratitude for early diagnosis and vowed to stay strong.

Little Ruhaan Sensed Something Was Wrong

In one of the most touching moments of the video, Shoaib and Dipika talked about how their young son Ruhaan somehow sensed that his mother wasn’t well. Shoaib called him “very understanding for his age.” Dipika shared, “He has stopped breastfeeding completely now. Sometimes he just comes to me and says something as if he knows I’m not well.” She became emotional while talking about it, but emphasized the importance of staying hopeful and strong.

Ongoing Pain Led to the Diagnosis

Dipika explained that she had been experiencing consistent pain in the upper part of her abdomen. Initially, she thought it was due to gallbladder stones, which she already had. But after a medical scan, doctors discovered a tumor the size of a tennis ball in her liver. Later tests confirmed it was cancerous.

Staying Strong as a Family

Despite the difficult diagnosis, Dipika and Shoaib are facing the situation with courage. They thanked fans for their love and support and promised to keep sharing updates through their vlogs. “We’re surrounded by love and care. That gives us the strength to fight this,” Shoaib added.
