The purple wave is back—and how! BTS members RM and V have officially completed their 18-month mandatory military service and were discharged on June 10, bringing a surge of joy to fans worldwide. The duo reunited in Chuncheon, where a crowd of enthusiastic supporters and media gathered to welcome them back to civilian life.
In a heartfelt message to ARMY, the two expressed gratitude for the unwavering support they’ve received throughout their enlistment. They reflected on their military journey, mentioning the strong bonds they formed with fellow soldiers, and how the experience brought them closer to others and to themselves.
But what’s next? Without hesitation, both RM and V shared their immediate desire to return to what they love most—performing.
V: “[Get back on] stage.”
RM: “Yes, performing. That’s what I want to do the most. As soon as possible. We’ll work hard on making an album—”
V: “Yes.”
RM: “—and return to the stage.”
V: “That’s right. Enough of this, I’ll return to the stage.”
The duo’s military homecoming was captured on video by Dispatch, showing them smiling, hugging, and even jumping with joy as they received welcome bouquets from their agency. The moment RM met V at the base was especially touching, with the two embracing and radiating the kind of brotherhood fans have always cherished.
RM and V are the first from BTS to be discharged this week. Jimin and Jungkook, who enlisted together as buddy soldiers, are set to return tomorrow, June 11. Jin and J-Hope had completed their service earlier and are already back to work, waiting to be joined by the rest of the group.
With RM and V’s passion for the stage burning as bright as ever, the countdown to BTS’s next era has officially begun.
