A tragic domestic dispute turned fatal in Janakpur after a son-in-law allegedly stabbed his father-in-law to death over a land-related argument.
According to police, 65-year-old Basudev Prasad Bimal of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-15 was attacked by his son-in-law, 48-year-old Bechan Mahaseth from Kurtha, Janakpurdham-21. The incident occurred around 9:45 AM on Tuesday morning at Bimal’s own home.
District Police Office Dhanusha spokesperson DSP Varun Bahadur Singh said the attack stemmed from a long-standing property dispute. Bechan reportedly stabbed Basudev in the stomach, causing serious injuries. He was rushed to the Provincial Hospital Janakpur, where doctors pronounced him dead at 10:30 AM.
Bechan fled the scene after the incident and remains at large. Police say an investigation is underway.
Basudev Prasad Bimal was the uncle of current Janakpurdham Mayor Manoj Sah.
