A woman has died after being attacked by a wild elephant in Belbari Municipality-8, Morang district.

The deceased has been identified as Amina Rajbanshi, 45, a resident of Bansbari, Belbari-8.

According to Morang District Police, Amina and another woman, Bandana Rajbanshi (35), had gone to the field near their home to irrigate crops when the elephant suddenly attacked.

Amina was seriously injured and rushed to Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar, where she later died during treatment. Bandana managed to escape and survived the attack.

The incident has raised concerns about increasing human-wildlife conflict in the region, especially near forested areas.
