Scissors removed from 15-year-old boy's stomach

Doctors at Nobel Medical College successfully removed a pair of scissors lodged in the stomach of a 15-year-old boy from Udayapur. The boy had accidentally swallowed the scissors while playing at home.

According to Dipesh Rai, manager at Nobel Medical College, the boy was admitted on Asar 17 (July 1) and underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove the object. The procedure was performed by a surgical team led by Dr. Amit Bhattarai and Dr. Dinesh Adhikari.

Family members reported that the incident occurred while the boy was lying down watching TV and playing with the scissors. The object slipped into his throat unexpectedly. When his grandfather attempted to remove it, the scissors went deeper into his body.

He was first taken to a local hospital but was referred to Nobel Medical College due to the severity of the case. By the time he arrived at Nobel, the scissors had already reached his small intestine. The doctors performed emergency laparoscopic surgery and successfully removed the scissors.

The boy has since recovered and returned home, hospital authorities confirmed.
